About
One film, taken seriously
A reading room for Peter Hyams's The Musketeer — the fight craft first, then everything around it.
This site covers a single picture. Not a franchise, not a genre, not a streaming catalogue: one 104-minute Dumas adaptation from 2001 that almost nobody defends and that contains, for about twenty minutes of its running time, the most interesting swordplay of its decade.
We are enthusiasts, not rights holders. Everything factual here — cast, characters, crew, locations, figures, notices — is checked against the public record, and where the record disagrees with itself we say so rather than pick the tidier number.
The rules we work by
- Real facts only. No invented scenes, quotes, awards or box-office figures. Where a detail is uncertain we describe the film instead of asserting the fact.
- Every image is ours. No frames, stills, posters or publicity art from the film, and no likenesses of the actors. Our art works in the picture's idiom — candle, wet stone, blades, cellars, rooftops — and the alt text says honestly what it shows.
- No dates on our own writing. The film's release year and the years of the works it draws on are history and belong in the copy. Our pieces are not news.
- We link out, never around. Ratings and availability live with the services that own them. This is not an aggregator and it is not a place to find files.
How the site is arranged
Five rooms: The Film, The Cast, The Fights, Production and Reception & Legacy. The fastest route to what this site is for is the cellar sequence, broken down beat by beat. Everything is listed on one page under Browse.
